The European Commission, in consultation with the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR), is inviting stakeholders to contribute to a public consultation on the pre-consultation opinion on health effects of artificial light.
Interleuven and BLISS
Within the BLISS project Interleuven will install more energy efficient street lighting lanterns in different residential areas and business sites.
The residential areas part of this project are:
• Bertem : Opstreek
• Rotselaar : Grotestraat-Kleinstraat
• Holsbeek : Kartuizersstraat
• Tienen : Kumtich
• Zoutleeuw : Solveld
The business sites are:
• Leuven : Parkveld (new site)
• Aarschot : Nieuwland (existing site that will be renovated)
• Bekkevoort : Assent (new site)
All these projects are situated in a different spatial setting (f.e. rural, suburban, urban) with a different type of housing and business. Therefore each of these projects demand another approach to lighting and street design.
Interleuven has already experience with the implementation of environmental friendly techniques. For instance when designing the buildings for the project ‘Science Park Arenberg' in Leuven(pictured), Interleuven took different environmental aspects into account. All modern techniques such as thermally activated floors, energy efficiency glass, rainwater re-use, energy efficient street lighting lanterns are integrated to provide future customers low-energy cost office space.

ARENBERG SCIENCE PARK AND INTERLEUVEN
Interleuven is constantly searching for new ways to make sites available to new, future-oriented enterprises. The Arenberg Science Park is developed by Interleuven together with the Catholic University and the City of Leuven.
The first two buildings, B1 and B2 accommodate high tech companies specialised in ICT and development of prototypes. The prime location on walking distance from the University and IMEC and only 20 minutes of Brussels Airport makes it an ideal location for high tech companies looking for a foothold in the fast growing Leuven area.
In 2010 Interleuven finished the buildings B3 and B4. The site has a total surface of 17.000 m² of which 11.600 m² office space and 5.400 m² technical space. The four buildings can accommodate 2.500 employees. When designing these buildings Interleuven took different environmental aspects into account. All modern techniques such as thermally activated floors, energy efficiency glass and rainwater re-use are integrated to provide future customers low-energy cost office space.
On the road leading to the buildings and the parking area Interleuven put energy efficient street lighting lanterns.
